Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
EHS provides occupational and environmental health and safety related services for the university community in the areas of biological safety, environmental compliance, occupational and workplace safety, research safety, radiation safety, biological/chemical/radiological materials security and emergency preparedness and response services for the university community. This unit is led by Senior Director Mike St.Clair.

EHS services include:
BIOLOGICAL SAFETY
Regulatory compliance issues involving the receipt, use or shipment of biohazards at Ohio State.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Development of procedures to be followed by building occupants in case of certain types of building emergencies, including assistance in completing and updating Building Emergency Action Plans (BEAP).
ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS
Environmental regulatory compliance, chemical management (recycling, minimization, and disposal), infectious waste disposal, air and water pollution control and permitting, asbestos hazard assessment and abatement project oversight, reporting, and oversight, and liaison with regulatory agencies.
Refrigerators/Freezers & Freon
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY AND EDUCATION
Identification, evaluation and elimination of occupational and workplace hazards. Educational programs to ensure compliance with established federal, state and local standards and regulations.
RADIATION SAFETY
Radiation Safety compliance, licensing of radioactive materials, registering of radiation generating devices; decommissioning of facilities; radioactive waste disposal; safe uses of radioactive materials and radiation in humans for diagnostic, therapeutic, and human research. Support for more than 600 labs on campus working with or storing radioactive material, safety training courses.
RESEARCH SAFETY
Lab management and regulatory compliance issues involving university research laboratories.
