Building Design Standards

Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) is responsible for the content and maintenance of the Ohio State Building Design Standards (BDS), the purpose of which is to provide guidance when preparing construction documents. These standards are undergoing periodic reviews.

The 2006 Building Design Standards have been placed online so they can be accessed, utilized, and reviewed by the university community and architectural and engineering firms. Comments are welcome and may be submitted to .
